The catering service at Royal Brompton Hospital has been honoured with a five-star award for food hygiene.
The top result comes after a recent inspection by officers from the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea’s Directorate of Environmental Health, which covered all aspects of food service, from the Brompton Café for staff and visitors and in-patient meals to the Proud to Serve Starbucks coffee shop.
The catering department’s efforts and exemplary food hygiene have been recognised with the five-star award.
Nuno Matias, Catering Services Manager for Royal Brompton Hospital, said: “We are extremely proud of the hard work carried out by the catering team here at Royal Brompton. A tremendous amount of work goes into the delivery of safe, high-quality meals for our patients, visitors and staff.
“The five-star rating is a reflection of our commitment to continuously developing the service we provide, on all aspects of hygiene and safety and a testament to the diligence shown by our staff around cleanliness and food management.”
The award is part of the Scores on the Doors scheme, a national programme used to evaluate food-serving premises and make the information available to the public.
Ross Ellis, Royal Brompton Hospital Director, applauded the catering team’s “fantastic achievement.”
“I’m proud of all members of the team who work hard to maintain our excellent standards and are an absolute credit to the Royal Brompton.”
